Development: 2 Months
Fielded: JAN 2006

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

America's Army development teams implemented non-lethal systems such as TASER and a Hand Emplaced Non-Lethal Munition (HENLM), which are part of the Non-Lethal Capabilities Set (NLCS) for marketing and evaluation. The TASER is an electric stun gun that uses patented TASER technology (Electro Muscular Incapacitation) to temporarily subdue an individual without causing injury or lasting physical effects. With its laser aiming device, and maximum range of 21 feet, it is an accurate and effective, non-lethal alternative for riot control or self-defense. The HENLM provides non-lethal area-denial to personnel and physical security for ammunition supply points, high value assets, compounds and/or unattended ground sensors. It uses proven Electro-Muscular Incapacitation electric stun effect (Taser) technology to stop, but not kill, intruders. Motion sensors on each HENLM detect movement and trigger the device when a target passes within range.
