Purpose: Future Soldiers training before BCT
Use: Fielding to Recruiter Stations/Online
Development: 6 months
Fielded: JUN 05

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

FSTS is designed to help Future Soldiers (delayed entry enlistees) become familiar with common Army tasks and training before arrival to Basic Combat Training (BCT). The project goal is to reduce attrition by better preparing Futures Soldiers for the tasks and to increase instructional efficiency. The project includes a portal and tutorial front end, SCORM-compliant multimedia content, and virtual 3D training environments. The multimedia content and the virtual 3D training environments sit on top of an open-source Learning Management System, providing maximum flexibility in the distribution of the content to the Future Soldiers.

FSTS Portal online training features: 1.) 3D virtual training scenarios further reinforcing the educational subject matter and promoting familiarity of the AA game to a wider audience. 2.) In the online LMS courseware, we have designed self contained interactive pieces so the user has something to take away. The user can download the chart tools used for teaching at the completion of the lesson. These self contained interactive pieces may also be leveraged into other presentations, or websites. Some of these charts listed: The interactive military time clock, the animation teaching the Military Grid Reference System, The video player in First Aid, the Land Navigation Id Terrain Features Slider chart showing a photo, map and satellite view, a high low chart showing terrain features and map view and more.
